You throw the party, you lead the toast and you say yes to adventures. A pirate costume fits because it is big, loud and fun to stay in character for all night.
It is also the best thrift-store costume there is. Loose shirts, boots, a sash and some jewellery go most of the way, and nothing has to match.
Why it’s you
- You host the party
- Big laugh, bigger stories
- Always up for an adventure
- Thrift store over costume shop
How to make it
- +A loose white or striped shirt, untucked
- +Dark trousers tucked into boots
- +Tie a scarf around your head and another around your waist as a sash
- +Add chunky rings, hoop earrings and a belt with a big buckle
- +Draw some stubble or a scar; an eye patch is optional
Tips
- !Rip and fray the hems a little for a weathered look
- !Skip realistic toy weapons if you are going to a bar or a public event
Group or couple version
A full pirate crew with a captain, a first mate and a parrot (someone in green and red feathers), or a pirate and a sea monster.
For fun. Costume ideas only; check your school’s, office’s or venue’s rules about masks, make-up and props before you go.
