FAQ
Questions people ask
- What is the 16 personality test?
- A quiz that sorts people into one of sixteen types based on four preference pairs: introvert or extravert (I/E), sensing or intuition (S/N), thinking or feeling (T/F), and judging or perceiving (J/P). Each type has a four-letter code, such as INFJ or ENTP.
- Is this the Myers-Briggs test?
- No. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an official, paid instrument owned by The Myers & Briggs Foundation. This is an independent quiz with original questions and original type names. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by them, and it is not a substitute for the official indicator.
- How do I find my four-letter type for free?
- Take the quiz above. It takes about five minutes, needs no email and shows your type straight away. Then read the type page and see whether the description sounds like you.
- How accurate is a 20-question quiz?
- It is a quick, honest starting point. Short quizzes can be sensitive to your mood, and a lot of people sit close to the middle on at least one pair. If a letter feels wrong, read the neighbouring type too.
- Can my type change?
- People often get a different letter when they sit near the middle of a pair, or when they answer in a different mood. Your preferences tend to be fairly stable over time, but how you use them develops.
- Is the 16-type model scientifically proven?
- Research support is mixed. The four-letter types are popular for self-reflection, teamwork talks and coaching, but psychologists mostly prefer trait models like the Big Five, which score you on a scale instead of in boxes. Use it for insight, not for hiring or labelling.
- Do I need to give my email?
- No. Your answers stay in your browser and the result appears straight away.
