- Is this IQ test really free?
- Yes. There is no email form, no sign-up and no paid unlock. Your score, percentile, part scores and the explanation for every question appear as soon as you finish.
- How accurate is a free online IQ test?
- It gives a rough estimate, not a clinical score. A real IQ test is given one to one by a psychologist, takes an hour or more and is compared against thousands of people of your age. This 26-question test has not been normed that way, so we show a range of about 7 points either side and you should treat it as a fun check, not a diagnosis.
- What IQ score do you need for Mensa?
- High-IQ societies such as Mensa take people who score in the top 2% on an approved, supervised test. On the common scale with a standard deviation of 15 that is about 130; on a scale with a standard deviation of 24 it is about 148. An online test like this one cannot qualify you. If you score in the high 120s or above here, a supervised test is the next step. This site has no connection to Mensa.
- What is a good IQ score?
- IQ tests are set so the average is 100. About half of people score between 90 and 109, about 16% between 110 and 119, about 7% between 120 and 129 and about 2% score 130 or more. "Good" depends on what you compare against, and an IQ score leaves out a lot, such as creativity, knowledge and how well you get along with people.
- What kinds of questions are on an IQ test?
- Most tests mix pattern puzzles (find the missing piece in a grid), number series, word problems such as analogies and the odd one out, and spatial tasks like turning a shape in your head. This test has all four, and every puzzle was written for this site.
- Can I take the IQ test again?
- Yes, as often as you like, but your second score will usually be higher because you have seen the questions. For a fair number, count your first try.
