What is a Moon sign?
Your Moon sign is the zodiac sign the Moon was in at the moment you were born. In astrology the Sun describes who you are becoming and the Moon describes how you feel: what comforts you, what you need when you are upset, and how you care for other people.
The Moon moves through a sign in about two and a half days, so people born a few days apart can share a Sun sign but have very different Moons.
Do I need my birth time?
Usually not. On most days the Moon stays in one sign from midnight to midnight, and the calculator will just give you the answer. If the Moon changed sign on your birthday, we tell you both signs, and your birth time decides between them. Your rising sign always needs a time.

Your big three
Astrologers often start a reading with three placements: your Sun sign (core self), Moon sign (emotional self) and rising sign (how you come across). This calculator shows all three when you add a birth time and place.
