Psychopathy is your strongest dark triad trait. Please read the word in its research sense: as a personality trait that everyone has to some degree, it describes boldness, impulsiveness, thrill-seeking and being less moved by other people’s distress. It is not a diagnosis and it does not mean anything criminal.
At a mild level it can show up as calm under pressure, a taste for risk and a thick skin. It becomes a problem when low empathy and impulsiveness lead you to hurt people or act without thinking about the cost.
How it shows up
- You act on impulse
- You get bored with routine fast
- You stay calm when others panic
- Other people’s upset does not stick to you
Strengths
- +Fearless under pressure
- +Quick to decide
- +Comfortable with risk
Watch out for
- !Can underestimate the effect on others
- !Acts before thinking it through
What helps
Build in a pause before big decisions and ask one person how it will land with them. Impulse is a strength when you also check the cost.
