One of 3 dark triad traits

✺

Narcissism

Confident, attention-loving, wants to stand out.

Narcissism is your strongest dark triad trait. In personality research it means a strong sense of self-importance and a wish to be admired: you are comfortable in the spotlight, you believe in your own abilities and you like recognition for what you do.

A moderate amount of it looks like confidence and ambition, and many leaders and performers score high. It tips into the “dark” side when the need for praise gets in the way of listening to others or taking feedback.

How it shows up

  • !Can overlook other people’s turn to shine

With other people

Ask a question and then really listen to the answer. Letting others have the spotlight sometimes is what makes your confidence read as generous.
